Food Supplements
Amazon does not approve supplements, but it will suspend listings that cannot show the right details. The list is shorter than you would think. Here it is, and here is how to get it done before your first shipment.
Four checks, one partner. UK FBO, compliant label, novel food and claims screens, and the document pack the platform asks for.

Amazon UK does not approve food supplements before they are listed. What it does is enforce UK food law on the sellers who list them, because regulators expect it to. That means a small number of checks, applied at listing, after a sales spike, or when a competitor reports you.
The first is the responsible party. Every supplement sold in the UK must carry the name and address of a UK-established food business, the Food Business Operator (FBO). Amazon asks for those details on the listing and expects them to match the label. An overseas brand needs a UK FBO to provide them.
The second is the label itself. Mandatory statements, the nutrition and ingredient declarations, the supplement-specific wording and warnings, and the FBO's name and address all have to be present and correct. Amazon can ask for label images at any time.
The third and fourth are about what is in the product and what you say about it: no unauthorised novel food ingredients, and no health or nutrition claims that are not permitted in Great Britain. Both are checked against public registers, and both are common reasons for a listing to be pulled.
Named on the label and on the listing. If you are outside the UK you appoint one; Taylored acts as UK FBO for overseas brands, with the compliance work behind the name.
Mandatory wording, nutrition declaration in the UK format, ingredient list, supplement warnings, batch and durability marking and the FBO's details. Our label review returns marked-up artwork your designer can act on.
Ingredients not in use in the UK before 1997 need novel food authorisation; unauthorised ones cannot be sold. Health claims must be on the GB register, worded as authorised. We screen both before you list.
Get all four right and the listing stays live. Miss one and the platform will find it, usually at the worst possible moment.
TikTok Shop is the fastest-growing channel for supplement sellers and the one the large consultancies ignore. The rules are identical; the process is not.
The FBO, label, novel food and claims requirements come from UK food law, not from the platform. A product that is compliant for Amazon is compliant for TikTok Shop, and vice versa.
TikTok Shop asks for different documents in a different order, with category qualification steps and its own evidence requests. We prepare the pack for each platform separately so nothing is rejected on a technicality.
Live-selling and viral spikes bring compliance reviews forward. Sellers who list first and sort compliance later get caught at exactly the moment they start to make money.
We work with sellers on both platforms and keep one set of compliant documents that serves every channel you sell through.
Our process for a new supplement listing, from first contact to live:
Send us your formulation, label artwork and any existing documents
We screen the formulation for novel food ingredients and check every claim against the GB register
Your label is reviewed and returned marked up with a plain-English fix list
Taylored is appointed as your UK FBO and registered with the local authority
We prepare the document pack Amazon UK or TikTok Shop asks sellers to upload
You list, and we stay on hand for any compliance request the platform raises later
With finished artwork and a clean formulation, sellers are usually ready to list within a couple of weeks. Novel food or claims problems take longer to fix and we tell you at step two, not step six.
The same handful of problems account for most supplement suspensions. A UK address that is not a registered food business. A label with a US or EU nutrition panel, a missing supplement statement or no batch code. An ingredient such as a botanical extract or a newer nootropic that turns out to be an unauthorised novel food.
Then claims. Immune, sleep, focus and weight-loss language that is not an authorised health claim, or an authorised claim reworded until it no longer matches the register. Marketplaces scan listing text, and competitors report it.
All of these are cheap to fix before listing and expensive after: a suspended ASIN, stock in a fulfilment centre you cannot sell, and a relaunch that starts from zero reviews.
A registered UK food business on your label and listing, with the formulation screen, claims check and marketplace document pack behind it. Not just an address.
Getting a supplement range ready for Amazon UK combines a fixed annual fee for UK FBO cover with per-label review fees and, where needed, novel food or claims work quoted separately. Everything is agreed in writing before we start, and you only pay for the reviews your range actually needs.
We do not publish a rate card, because a seller with one clean product and one with twelve SKUs and a claims problem are not the same job. What you get is a price for your range with each part shown separately.
Both platforms ask sellers to upload evidence: FBO details, label images, sometimes certificates of analysis or ingredient specifications, and occasionally proof that a claim is authorised. We assemble the pack in the form each platform wants, so the upload is a formality rather than a scramble.
If you want to understand the UK rules in more depth before you list, our UK food supplements cheat sheet covers classification, labelling and the route to market in one guide.
No, but you need a UK-established Food Business Operator behind the product, named on the label and the listing. Most overseas brands appoint one rather than incorporate. That is our UK FBO service.
Listings can be asked for label images and responsible-party details at any point, and competitor reports trigger reviews. A compliant label from day one is far cheaper than a relist.
The legal requirements are identical, because they come from UK food law, not the platform. What differs is what each platform asks you to upload and when. We prepare the pack for each.
A novel food is an ingredient without a significant history of consumption in the UK before 1997. It needs authorisation before it can be sold, and unauthorised novel foods are illegal whatever the label says. Amazon removes listings that contain them because it is expected to enforce the rule.
Only claims on the Great Britain register of authorised health claims, worded so they keep the meaning of the authorised text, and only where the product meets the conditions of use. General wellbeing language has to be paired with an authorised claim. We check listing copy as well as the label.
We act as UK FBO for supplement brands across Europe and North America, review labels and claims every day and deal with marketplace compliance requests every week. Sellers come to us to get listed and stay listed, without setting up a UK company.
